4th of July Backyard Barbecue with an Italian Twist

Welcome the 4th of July with a delicious backyard barbecue! And although we love the classic grilling fare of hot dogs and hamburgers, switching up the menu is an easy way to avoid barbecue boredom and gives you a chance to really WOW your guests! Check out Chef Brian’s twist on a couple traditional barbecue items to try at your 4th of July backyard bash. Have a safe and happy holiday!

 

Balsamic BBQ Ribs

Rub:

1 Tbsp each of paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, chili powder

2 Tbsp each kosher salt, sugar, dry basil

Balsamic BBQ Sauce:

1 cup Balsamic vinegar

3/4 cups ketchup

1/3 cup brown sugar

2 tsp chopped garlic

1/2 Tbsp kosher salt

1/2 Tbsp black pepper

 

Generously coat ribs with rub on both sides. Wrap ribs with aluminum foil and roast in 300 degree oven for 3 1/2-4 hours or until meat starts to pull away from the bone. When ribs are finished remove from oven unwrap foil. Place on grill lathering both sides with bbq sauce. Ribs will only need to be on grill for 5-10 minutes. Just enough time to pick up some smoky flavor and allow the sauce to coat the ribs. Remove from grill and serve.

 

Green Bean and Grape Salad

2 pounds blanched green beans

1/2 each small red onion, julienned

2 cups red seedless grapes, halved

1 cup balsamic vinaigrette

salt and pepper to taste

 

Toss all ingredients together in a bowl. If preferred, add more dressing. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve.
